SmackDown Posts Lowest Ratings Since January Amid Playoff Competition

WWE SmackDown has hit a rough patch in the ratings, recording its weakest numbers in months as stiff sports competition cut into viewership.

The Numbers

Last Friday’s episode averaged 1.15 million viewers and scored a 0.25 rating in the key 18–49 demo. That’s a 9% drop in total audience and a 22% decline in the demo compared to the previous week.

Context

Despite the slide, SmackDown still ranked third on cable for the night in the 18–49 demographic, trailing only NHL playoff games on ESPN and ESPN2. The show also went head‑to‑head with two NBA Game 6 matchups, adding to the competitive pressure.

Year‑Over‑Year Decline

The bigger concern is the long‑term trend: SmackDown’s viewership is down 17% compared to last May, while its 18–49 demo has dropped a steep 31% year‑over‑year.

Looking Ahead

WWE plans to revert SmackDown back to a two‑hour format in June, eliminating the 10–11 PM slot that typically sees the sharpest audience decline. The move could help stabilize ratings going into the summer.

Final Thought

Between playoff competition and long‑term declines, SmackDown faces a tough ratings battle. WWE’s upcoming format change may be the key to regaining momentum — but for now, the blue brand is struggling to keep its audience locked in.

Stephanie Vaquer’s Setback: What’s Next for the Former Champion?

Stephanie Vaquer’s WrestleMania debut was supposed to be the start of something big. Instead, it turned into a nightmare. In short order, she lost her WWE Women’s World Championship to Liv Morgan, and things only spiraled further when Morgan and Raquel Rodriguez attacked her backstage on Raw . That segment wasn’t just storyline chaos — it was WWE’s way of writing Vaquer off TV due to a legitimate injury. The Injury Timeline Reports confirm Vaquer will be out “for the foreseeable future.” Some sources cautiously suggested she might return by SummerSlam, while others speculated she could be back in as little as six weeks. But even the optimistic timeline was described as speculative, with no guarantees. A Rare Absence This marks the first time Vaquer has missed action since signing with WWE in 2024. Earlier this year, she battled through an ankle injury, wrestling only once per month leading into WrestleMania. It’s unclear whether her current setback is related to that ankle issue ...
