With WWE set to host its first‑ever premium live event in Italy later this month, former WWE star and current TNA Director of Authority Santino Marella has hinted at how meaningful a return would be.
After a fan shared a poster imagining Marella at Clash in Italy, the former two‑time Intercontinental Champion responded on X:
“It would be a full circle moment for sure.”
Marella’s WWE journey famously began in Milan back in 2007, when Vince McMahon plucked him from the crowd to face Umaga for the Intercontinental Championship. With outside help, Marella shocked the world by winning the title in his debut match, launching a career that blended comedy and competition until his departure in 2016 .
Since then, Marella has made sporadic WWE appearances, most recently challenging Ethan Page for the North American Championship in 2025. Today, he serves as TNA’s on‑screen Director of Authority, squaring off with Daria Rae (Sonya Deville) in storyline power struggles .
With WWE and TNA now working under a multi‑year partnership, Marella’s potential involvement at Clash in Italy would carry both personal and professional significance. The event, set for May 31, already features Cody Rhodes defending the Undisputed WWE Championship against GUNTHER
